Getting Out There And Trying A Sport Takes Confidence & Courage

When you decide you need to take up an new hoby, exercise or a sport, the choices are absolutely fantastic these days.  There are no bars to trying just about anything that you have heard about or seen in a magazine.   Sport is often a short lived experience for the average person who has not exercised or done any such activity since leaving school or college.  So what are the choices .  .

Badminton is a good place to start as it is open to all ages and there are over a million player throughout the country.  The main governing body has formulated an easy entry programme for folk who just want to meet up, learn how to play the sport and just enjoy weekly sessions without the pressure of competition.

Take one of the first basic rules – players should never reach over the net to hit a shuttlecock.  A serve must carry across the court diagonally to be valid.  There are rules too about not striking the lines of the court too.  A player must not in fact touch any of the lines of the court until the server strikes the shuttlecock.  When serving, the shuttlecock should be hit from below the waist.

Now these are very helpful guidances to ensure the novice player doesn’t make themselves look silly or become unpopular through bad practice.
